PNE celebrates inauguration of the Bokel wind farm – a strong contribution to the regional energy transition

• Residents, project stakeholders, and interested parties gain exciting insights into the new wind farm

Bokel, 15 August 2025 – In a festive ceremony at the Bokel Schützenhaus, the new wind farm was officially inaugurated today. In addition to the general public, the PNE Group also invited project stakeholders, including landowners and municipal representatives.

The wind farm was built on agricultural land in the municipality of Sprakensehl, in the Bokel district, and supports Germany’s energy transition with its electricity production: the seven wind turbines, with a total nominal output of 25.2 MW, can generate clean electricity annually for around 17,800 three-person households.

Speakers from the PNE Group gave guests vivid, first-hand insights into the development and implementation of the project. In addition, information boards with detailed project history were available throughout the event. During a guided visit to one of the wind turbines in the park, guests also received expert explanations of the technical functionality and electricity generation from wind energy.

Regional cooperation as a success factor

Many of the invited guests had been involved with the project since the planning phase and actively supported it up to the commissioning of the turbines in April this year.

During the development phase of the Bokel wind farm, Aimee Gieseler and Patrick Orth were the project managers at the PNE Group. Both oversaw the project over several years, working closely with the municipality, landowners, and specialist consultants. "Close cooperation with regional stakeholders was crucial in advancing the energy transition," emphasize Gieseler and Orth. "With every kilowatt hour generated, we make an important contribution to climate protection and security of supply."

Dipl.-Ing. Jens Peters, project manager during the construction phase, adds: "Close communication with the municipality of Sprakensehl and other local stakeholders, along with targeted collaboration with the construction companies and consultants, was key to the project’s success."

PNE in the Gifhorn district: completed  projects and promising prospects for renewable energy

The PNE Group has already successfully implemented several wind energy projects in the Gifhorn district. The Boitzenhagen, Groß Oesingen, and Zahrenholz wind farms are already in operation and feeding clean electricity into the grid.

The Langwedel I and Langwedel II wind farms, in operation since 2010, are also part of this success story. As pioneering projects in the Gifhorn region, they marked the starting point for successful cooperation with local partners and laid the foundation for numerous follow-up projects, such as the Bokel wind farm.

In addition, both wind and photovoltaic projects in the district are currently in the early development phase. Darius Gooß, responsible for wind energy projects in the region and the Gifhorn district, emphasizes: "Our previous projects clearly demonstrate the value of a trusting partnership with local stakeholders. This cooperation is the foundation for turning innovative ideas into concrete projects for a climate-friendly future. In the coming years, I see great potential to continue this successful course. Together with municipalities and citizens, we aim to strengthen the region sustainably and drive the expansion of renewable energy with determination."
